Everyone, their dog and the government has an opinion on what you should be putting in your mouth. Here’s mine.
Excess body fat is a symptom, not a problem. Body fat is directly linked to your food intake rather than your excercise output.
You can simplify it by thinking of “calories in – calories out” but it’s not that easy. Each calorie has to count. Your food should supply your body with the vitamins, minerals, proteins etc that it needs to convert to energy so that you can live your life optimally.
What you eat and how you eat it will depend on your body, your mentality and your lifestyle.
There is no right answer but there are some pretty pervasive common denominators within the answers, they are:
1. Don’t eat processed foods
2. Don’t skip breakfast
3. treat your body with respect. Listen to it.
You can count your calories, cut out animal products/by-products, go raw or enter The Zone, find out what works for you.
I keep a journal myself, in it I write down what I’m eating but not the amounts and how I felt before and after the meal/snack. The importance of this exercise is that it draws your awareness to how the food you are eating is making your body feel. Try it, you’ll astound yourself and probably lay off the Snickers bars.
