Eggnog is the evil

November 27th, 2008

I disappoint myself every time I buy and drink and eggnog latte.
I know I always get a stomach ache after, it’s loaded with empty calories and it’s expensive. Half of my daily allowance.
And every time I buy one I reinforce my failure to resist the temptation
I need to remember the feeling acutely so [...]

November 25th, 2008

I figure one recipe lasts me a work week.
And adding things, such as fruit, is highly recommended.
Tosca Reno’s Protien Bar recipe

1/2 cup flax seed

Efficiency and Organization.
Almost all areas in our lives can benefit from more efficient practices. It comes down to getting the most out of the time you have here on earth.
And almost everyone has advice on how to do it. If you search long enough  you’ll notice common threads that usually talk about simplifying, prioritizing and [...]

So *that* what those are??

November 22nd, 2008

I always thought I had muscles until I actually got some.
*Danielle looking down at her leg*
“What’s that bulge on the side of my calf? Is that my calf muscle?!?!? Cool!!!”
Go me!

Keep on going…and going….

November 21st, 2008

I was always a big fan of the ol’ iPod but it wasn’t until I began serious weight training that the importance of the little square god of goodness became evident. I *rely* on my music to keep me pumped through the heavy sets and motivated through the endless reps.
Music feeds my muscles!
So if you [...]

Yogurt Cheese

November 20th, 2008

I borrowed Tosca Reno’s Clean Eating recipe book from the library and tried out a few of her suggestions.
My verdict is that it’s ok but if you’re naturally inclined in the kitchen you’re going to find it bland and boring. You can definitely keep to the Clean Eating principles and come up with something tastier [...]

All I Want for Christmas….

November 19th, 2008

I made out my Christmas wish list yesterday and couldn’t help but notice a common theme, I thought I’d post it here because, well, it’s applicable

Gym bag
money for more personal training hours
Laminated Muscle Chart for my wall
Sweat suit from Roots
Gym shoes

Old Skool

November 12th, 2008

I have the latest research concerning dynamic stretches and plyometric training nestled in my brain but I STILL really like the old skool idea of a gym, like where Rocky Balboa trained, where you lift and move really heavy things and stretch your muscles anyway you know how. Skipping rope and sweating.
These fancy “spas” (yes, [...]

Ohmmmmmm

November 9th, 2008

I’m starting to understand the organic experience that weight lifting should be.
Instead of doing 3 sets of 12 reps I’m seeing how doing 3 sets of whatever feels good then as much as I can do  on the last set seems to work really well. If I listen to my body it will tell me [...]

the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.

November 7th, 2008

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one [...]
